Yep, it was our first as Amberskin, and mine and the drummer's first in 2 years. As I said before, what sucked was that Guerrillas got cut off and barely had the time to put on a show... also, as we played alongside them and Onesiderealday, both hardcore/thrash/metal bands, I guess we were the evening's pop moment, but the response was okay, even though we definitely weren't anyone's revelation, hehe. Also, I promised myself (for the nth time) this would be the last time we step on stage without soundchecking first, so there's a wee excuse for all the fuckups in the vids (ok, it's not the best excuse, but notes are hard to hit correctly when you're no musician and proper button tweaking is replaced with, well, reverb :) Then again, it was not the sound guys' fault either, just bad timing - actually, no timing whatsoever). What was cool was that, even though it was on a wednesday night and there was a big soccer game going on, there were enough people there to clap their hands and appreciate the bands, and what was cooler was that, inevitable rushing aside, playing our songs was almost as fun as it usually is at rehearsals. Me, Theo and Radu had played many times before, I also sang "My Own Summer" with Dome and the iCoRy crew as a guest many times, so I knew the dudes waz down yo, and Cami was as great live as she was at rehearsals, so I can say I'm proud of my peeps and glad we've come together (:P) and I can't wait for concerts to come. What we're trying real hard - and not seeming to make it - is record what we've got so far and put the songs out there for people to listen to, so that they can hum along at shows or at least know what to expect, so wish us luck with that. You know what? We've got some pretty catchy tunes, man, and yes I think that's a good thing. Actually, that's my goddamned credo. I know it's been a boring post, so here are the videos, laugh it up :P
Before
Broken Glass
Bedouin
Morgan Freeman
Diggin' the Grave
Under Siege
And the concert pics here.
Oh and the question that always arises regarding the band's name - it was just something random Dome came up with, but if you think about it a little bit, amber, just like music, is a beautiful, yellowish, transparent thingie which is actually nothing more than a trap and permanent prison to an ugly little bug that didn't see it coming. It's like looking at what's bugging you through a nice amberish window. Boy, is our band name gay.
PS We've also got a little blog going, that little unnecessary place you dump all your band related crap to. Will probably soon turn into a steamy pile of distortion and clipping, and bad phone cam youtubes, or we'll just be too lazy to even post in it, but for the time being, here it is.
